DEMETER: When Satellite Data & IoT Become “Digital Assistants” of Digital-Age Farmers

|05/12/2025|

Agriculture is not just “looking at the sky, looking at the land, looking at the clouds”.

In the digital age, modern farmers need to “look to data” to cope with severe climate change.

DEMETER – A pioneering project that brings Smart Dashboard to help Vietnamese agriculture not only become “Greener” but also “Smarter” and “Inclusive”.

Breakthrough 3-in-1 Technology

The power of DEMETER lies in its ability to integrate data from three main sources into a single platform:

IoT Sensor: Precisely measure every drop of water and soil moisture right in the garden.

Satellite Data: A panoramic view from space of crop health and weather.

Farmer Diary: Real Data from the Farmers Themselves.

Decoding the “Talking” Numbers

Going beyond collection, DEMETER analyzes and provides real-time farming recommendations, helping solve tough problems:

Optimizing inputs: Tightly control fertilizer, irrigation water and energy consumption.

Emissions Reduction: Track and reduce greenhouse gases, aiming for Net Zero.

Supply chain transparency: Easy traceability helps Vietnamese agricultural products confidently enter demanding markets.

For an “Inclusive” Agriculture

What makes DEMETER special is the project’s humanistic value. The system not only measures environmental indicators but also tracks social indicators:

Economic empowerment of rural women and youth.

Improve farm income through direct connection to green finance and international buyers.

Future Vision

With DEMETER, every farmer, Cooperative or Enterprise can own its own “digital brain”, turning climate challenges into sustainable development opportunities.

The DEMETER project team is one of four outstanding projects entering the acceleration round at GIC 2025.
